The New Zealand Sportclimbing Federation (NZSF)
governs competition climbing in New Zealand.
The NZSF is affiliated with the International Council
for Competition Climbing (ICCC), the international sports organisation responsible for the administration and
development of competition climbing. The ICCC is a constituent
part of the Union Internationale des Associations d'Alpinisme (UIAA).
The objective of the NZSF is to set and maintaining standards, train
officials (judges
and routesetters), establish the National Ranking and to promote Sportclimbing.
While the NZSF is the controlling body in New Zealand, they typically don't
organise climbing events. The task of running competitions and associated events is
undertaken by a small group of clubs and private organisations, for example
climbing gyms.
