Wharepapa is one of the best rock climbing areas in New Zealand
and it's
certainly popular among adventure tourists. If you’re a visitor to New Zealand and
looking for an adventure and some great rock climbing, then Wharepapa is one place you
should have on your itinerary. Check out the crags listed on the menu to

Wharepapa South is located between Te Awamutu and Managkino.
From Te Awamutu travel south to Kihikihi, turn into Arapuni Road opposite the
service station and travel towards Rotorua/Mangakino/etc. After about 9 km turn right into the road opposite the Parawera
(Stone) Store. From there travel about
14.5 km and youll come to the Wharepapa Outdoor Centre & Cafe just before the
"T" intersection.

Accommodation & Facilities
Wharepapa School (Tent Sites)
Just past the Cafe turn right at the "T" intersection and travel
about
100m before turning right into the school gate. Camping is permitted at the school
at a cost of $2.oo/person/night with the fee is payable at the principals house or at the
Wharepapa Outdoor Centre. If you
want real accommodation including a hot shower and a real bed, you should try the Wharepapa
Outdoor Centre. |
